We have officially concluded our WAVE Trophy 2015. A wise man once said: "The journey is the destination." That is something we definitely agree on.

Switzerland, June 17th, 2015

After getting our beauty sleep (we haven't slept for 42! hours) we cought up with other WAVE members at breakfast. Although we are officially out of the race, since we have no electric car, the Trophy isn't finished yet. Things are getting interesting and competitors are getting tired. On the other hand, we have joined the caravan today and we are driving around Switzerland visiting amazing places and meeting amazing people who are moving the world with us.

WAVE 2015 Day 4
Berlin - Loerrach, June 16th, 2015

Congratulation to Team METRON!!!

They managed to set a new world record in range of an electric car: 826 km. They drove from Berlin to Karlsruhe on one single charge. Fantastic!

Meanwhile, our red Mazda Bolt is driving back home, enjoying the sightseeing on a tow truck... Tine and I are driving from Berlin to Bern with a rental car...disapointed and tired...stopping in Loerrach to congatulate Team METRON!

WAVE 2015 Day 3
Berlin, June 15th, 2015

Today we finished our first WAVE Trophy, due to the charging failure.

Since we couldn't start the King's stage today, there will be no range trophy for us, but we are cheering for Team METRON who is trying to achieve a new world record in range: the longest drive with one single charge! Keep your fingers crossed!

WAVE 2015 Day 2
Berlin, June 14th, 2015

Charging: this is one of the most important thing if you drive an electic car. First of all you need a really good charger and second the infrastructure, not to mention the third - the electic grid... We see that many teams are having real problems with their chargers; fuses are blown or the charger just stops working, and there is also the problem with overheating. The charging stations are also one of the issue to address here, since they are quite hard to find and each of them is using different plug. But thanks to application PlugSurfing and the help of their team member, we found one and we will be "good to go" in the morning for the longest King's stage: Berlin - Bern (1000 km in 30 hours). Keep your fingers crossed!

After learning all about charging: improvise, improvise, improvise and make sure somebody helps you with improvising... we drove to TESLA Berlin where they prepared a warm welcome for us and delicious BBQ (of course there was also the Bratwurst). But before dinner and discusion why Tesla has no serious competition on the market, we decided to make a short visit to Berlin city center, where we posed for selfies :) I hope you like it!

WAVE 2015 Day 1
Leipzig, June 13th, 2015

Now that was an experience :) Tine driving our red Mazda (Bolt) around race track in Sachsenring. I would post a video but it probably should be censored first. It is interesting how much can you learn about your car in 2 single minutes. Our findings are as follows:

- too heavy (1.800 kg) -> solution: a diet, we should loose weight
- hardly maneuverable (the steering wheel electronics went off right after start) -> solution: reduce EMC interference
- understeering (our back was driving different line than our front) -> solution: get rid of extra luggage in the trunk
+ remarkably good looking and still fast

We are looking forward to see official resaults of our first Speed Trophy.

After Sachsenring we drove to Chemnitz and Dresden enjoying the beautiful architecture and delicious local chocolate cake. Our final stop for the day was Leipzig, where we are still charging our cars and listening to Bach music in the city center.

WAVE 2015 First test
Plauen, June 12th, 2015

Today we finally arrived to Plauen. Our first test was to leave our car for technical inspection, which we have passed with all points and now it is official: we will be on a WAVE start tomorrow morning "wearing" no. 9. Our first stage includes driving on Sachsenring, where we will have a speed trophy to see which car is the fastest and the most agile.

In the evening we had our first briefing with tour director Louis Palmer. Before learning all the details and important information about our driving goals in the next few days, we had to present our teams and (of course!) our cars. There is quite a competition, since there are 90 teams participating in the WAVE trophy this year. We concluded our 30 seconds presentation with prediction that one of our teams (probably the blue one) will win this year and everybody started laughing and clapping. I wonder why...

WAVE 2015 Team REC

This year Team REC is joining The WAVE - World Advanced Vehicle Expedition. It is the largest electric vehicle rallye in the world. The WAVE wants to show that electric vehicles powered by renewable energies are available and are a great solution for our future, and they are lots of fun too!

The road will take us 8 days from Eastern Germany into the Alps across 4 countries starting on June 13th in Plauen. If you have time, we would be very excited of your support and glad to meet you on our road-stops. You can take a look of the exact route we will be driving on: wavetrophy route 2015

WAVE 2015 Team METRON

This year Team REC is attending the Wavetrophy for the first time. Alongside our red BOLT there will be more experienced Team METRON: Jasna and Andrej Pečjak with their blue Metron 7, winners of the range competition on Wave 2014 and currently holding range record of 726 km. This year they're attending Wave for the 3rd time in a row.
